European Energy A/S
GreenWave
European Energy is a Danish renewable energy company established in 2004, with a mission to deliver full value-chain solutions across wind, solar, and Power-to-X (PtX) technologies. Headquartered in Copenhagen, the company has grown rapidly and now employs approximately 880 people representing 43 nationalities, working across 29 offices in 21 countries.
With a development pipeline exceeding 65 GW worldwide, European Energy is one of Europe’s most dynamic green energy developers. The company has played a leading role in advancing PtX technologies by integrating renewable power with green fuel production. In 2021, European Energy acquired REintegrate, a green methanol technology company, to secure core competencies in e-methanol production. This enabled the successful launch of the world’s first commercial-scale e-methanol facility in Kassø, Denmark, which began production in 2025. The project has attracted long-term offtake agreements with major global companies, including Maersk, Novo Nordisk, and LEGO.
In the GreenWave project, European Energy acts as the overall coordinator, drawing on its proven capabilities in managing complex international renewable and PtX projects.
Founded in 1999 (with roots dating back to 1995), Soft & Teknik A/S is an integrated engineering and manufacturing house based in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Today, a team of around 200 specialists unify mechanical, electrical and software disciplines to deliver end-to-end industrial solutions. Certified workshops build switchboards, steel and process-pipe systems, while in-house automation teams develop SCADA, PLC and MES platforms—competencies that underpin mega-watt heat-pump packages, shore-power systems for electric ferries, BESS integration and electrical balance-of-plant for next-generation Power-to-X facilities.
European Energy has partnered and invested into Soft & Teknik in late 2021. The partnership secures critical know-how in electrical integration and high-temperature heat-pump technology across the renewable-energy value chain and is already being applied on European Energy’s Måde-PtX and Kassø-PtX projects.
Within GreenWave, Soft & Teknik will act as EPC partner for electrical, automation and mechanical integration.
Carbon-capture and biogas-upgrading specialists
Founded in 2002, Ammongas designs and builds state-of-the-art environmental plants that transform waste streams into valuable resources. More than 40 Ammongas facilities are already operating across Northern Europe—and six in the United States—delivering high-efficiency biogas upgrading, biomethane polishing for Bio-LNG, CO₂ liquefaction and advanced carbon-capture solutions.
In 2022, European Energy partnered and invested into the company, embedding Ammongas’ know-how inside the full Power-to-X value chain. The company’s stripper–absorber technology combines industry-leading methane recovery with very low energy demand and has been adapted from biogas to flue-gas capture. In 2021, this capability was recognised with Denmark’s National District Heating Award for the first demonstration of carbon capture from waste-heat flue gas at Thisted.
